With that being said dogs attack small animals and cats all the time it just part of their nature. For example a pelican flying over an ocean scooping up fish into their mouth you wouldnt call a pelican a murderer would you? Probably not, why because that is part of their nature and how they survive. I am a person with a big heart for people and animals, animals who have an irresponsible owner are not at fault no matter what breed or species. My husband and I have 4 beautiful children as well as 4 dogs one of our dogs happens to be a pit/lab/mastiff mix, we also have a full blooded black lab and two greyhound/irish wolf hound mixes. I have my own story to tell about how wonderful this misunderstood breed is mix or not. My youngest daughter (14months) and myself were leaving our house to go eat lunch with my husband as we were walking out the door and i closed it i hear a low deep growl coming from behind us i quickly turned around to see a large boxer snarling at us and in a very low stance like a bull ready to charge. I quickly opened the door to our house as soon as i did two of our four dogs bolted outside (our lab and our pit mix). They both stood in front of my daughter and myself and began to chase the boxer away and off of our property. I learned later that not only did this boxer come after us but it also attacked someones car as they were trying to leave chased an older woman into her house and almost got a hold of a little boy and his mom who were also trying to leave their home. I am sharing this because of a few reasons one of which is to show that a pit/pit mix are very protective over their family and two to show that not just pit bulls attack. Any dog can be aggressive i have even seen aggressive cats! Its very immature and uneducated to blame a breed for their irresponsible owners. I sit here today thankful to my two brave dogs who saved my daughter and I from a non-pit. So to all of you uneducated people about a breed that you clearly know nothing about and you seem to love to believe everything you see on tv and internet why dont you look up the stories of pit bulls saving lives of not only their owners but their neighbors and other animals too! Maybe just maybe you might earn a new respect for such a loyal and smart breed.. Shouldnt it be a dog victim? I ow...Pit Bull Victim? Shouldnt it be a dog victim? I own a lab/pit and it is the freindliest most gentle dog I have ever met. Its not the type of dog, but the way it is raised. No one should ever go through what Anne and he child went through, I'm not defending the dog in this case, but it is not ok to put one breed of dog into this little box. You are acting like pit bulls are the most dangerous pet in the world to own. This is ridiculous and these types of websites/blogs need to stop.
